Nike’s New Infinalon Fabric Promises Nearly Double the Stretch of Spandex

After two years of development, Nike is releasing a brand new yoga collection with its latest performance fabric innovation: Nike Infinalon.
According to Nike, its aim with Infinalon is to deliver on “movement without restriction” by melding the right amount of stretch and strength.
“With the same amount of force applied, the stretch and recovery of Infinalon is nearly double that of a fabric made from spandex,” Nike said in a statement Monday. “Unlike stretch lockout in spandex, Infinalon provides a comfortable and consistent fit through a gentle but nonrestrictive compression system that moves with you.”
The opaque fabric has a thinner profile than spandex but it’s stronger, according to Nike, and finer yarns woven into multiple layers means high-density materials that still have a lightweight feel.
Comfort and fit will be key in the collection, too. Infinalon, Nike said, creates a soft, smooth surface, while compression properties help shape and contour the body without the tightness.
Nike describes Nike Yoga’s Infinalon line as a “zero-distraction apparel experience” due to “thoughtful” seam placement and minimal trim. Additionally, the collection will be size-inclusive and unisex, available in sizes extra small and in plus sizes.
The Infinalon yoga collection will be available on Jan. 1st, with more items set to roll out in April. The collection will include bodysuits, leggings, pants and shorts.
