The Children’s Place taps Ascena exec to aid transformation
US retailer The Children's Place has tapped former Ascena Retail Group executive, John Sullivan, for the newly created position of chief transformation officer.
Sullivan, who will take up the role on 12 June, most recently served as COO and president of shared services at US women's wear retailer Ascena Retail Group, where he was responsible for establishing omnichannel capabilities across the enterprise, distribution and fulfilment services, sourcing, IT, and project management.
"John's extensive track record of delivering successful transformations through omnichannel systems implementations, technology solutions, and business process re-engineering, coupled with his deep expertise in sourcing and global logistics and distribution, makes him ideally suited to lead the next key phase of our transformation efforts," says president and CEO Jane Elfers.
The company recently achieved what it called a "spectacular" year thanks to significant progress on its numerous self-help initiatives.
Elfers adds that, looking to the future, developing and implementing a best in class personalised customer contact strategy is the company's "single biggest opportunity", and it has made the decision to "significantly accelerate" the development and implementation of this initiative.

Prior to Ascena, Sullivan served as EVP and CIO at shopping channel QVC and chief information officer and senior vice president with responsibility for sourcing, systems and customer service at Liz Claiborne.
