Esprit invests in EU logistics processes
In a bid to boost its logistics processes, Hong Kong-listed fashion brand Esprit has invested in an 80,000 sq m extension of its logistics centre in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
As one of the country's largest fashion logistics centres, the expanded facility will be used to supply Esprit's own stores and wholesale customers across Europe.
The company, which has 6,000 wholesale points of sales, including franchise stores and sales space in department stores, partnered with logistics real estate developer Goodman on the project, which saw its existing 53,000 sq m property expanded to 133,000 sq m.
"The additional capacity at Regiopark Mönchengladbach is an essential component of our strategic restructuring at Esprit and the associated further development of the business model," says Jose Antonio Ramos, chief commercial officer at Esprit. "Thanks to the modern concept for the extension of Goodman's property, we will in future supply our partners and our own shops in a way that is even faster and demand based."
Meanwhile, logistics service partner Fiege, will continue to run the operations of the centre and will be increasing the number of employees in the centre to around 750. The company has been working with Esprit for 16 years.
